The Estonian Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Estonian Geothermal Energy Association, will organise an international conference on geothermal energy, the current state of the geothermal energy sector, developments, research activities and European policy and financial trends in this field on 16 June 2022. The conference will take the form of a hybrid conference. The physical venue of the conference will be the field site of the Estonian Geological Survey in Arbavere. The conference will start at 10.00 and will end at 15.00.

Several leaders of the European Geothermal Energy Association (https://www.egec.org/), including Filipp Dumas, EU Geothermal Energy Policy Manager Sanjeev Kumar, and Gregor Götzel, Chief Coordinator of the European COST activities on geothermal heating and cooling systems, from the Austrian Geological Survey, will address the conference.

A separate block of presentations will give an overview of geothermal energy developments and research activities in the Nordic countries. Geothermal energy in Norway will be presented by Kirsti Midtomme from the Norwegian Research Centre, the Swedish overview will be given by Signhild Gehlin from the Swedish Geoenergy Centre and the Finnish overview will be given by Teppo Arola from the Finnish Geological Survey. We will also talk about the National Geoenergy Project led by the Estonian Geological Survey and much more.
